Our Beliefs
What We Believe
Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ.
What Guides Us
Clear Truth for Everyday Faith
What we believe shapes how we live. At Planted Church, our beliefs are centered on who God is, what He has done through Jesus, and how we are called to live in response.
These truths are not just ideas to agree with, they are the foundation for a life that is transformed, grounded, and lived with purpose.
The Scriptures
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New
Testaments, is the inspired, authoritative Word of God.
Scripture is fully trustworthy and sufficient for faith, life, doctrine, and practice.
(2 Timothy 3:16β17; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12)
The One True God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Trinity is co-eternal, co-equal, and one in essence.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
God the Father
We believe God the Father is the Creator of all things, holy, sovereign, loving, and perfect.
He desires relationship with humanity and has purposed redemption through Christ.
(Genesis 1:1; Psalm 103:19; John 3:16)
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man.
He was born of the virgin Mary, lived without sin, was crucified for our sins, buried, and rose bodily from the dead.
He ascended into heaven, reigns as Lord, and is the Head of the Church.
He will return again in glory.
(John 1:1β14; Philippians 2:6β11; 1 Corinthians 15:3β4; Acts 1:9β11)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates believers, and dwells within all who belong to Christ.
The Holy Spirit guides, equips, empowers, and sanctifies believers for Christ-like living and service.
The evidence of His work includes spiritual fruit and spiritual gifts, all exercised under the authority of Scripture.
(John 16:8β13; Romans 8:9β11; Galatians 5:22β23; 1 Corinthians 12:4β7; 1 Thessalonians 5:19β21)
Humanity and Sin
We believe humanity was created in the image of God.
Through sin, humanity fell and is separated from God, in need of salvation.
Every person is accountable before God.
(Genesis 1:26β27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12)
Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.
Salvation is a gift of God and includes justification, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification.
True believers will persevere in faith by the power of God.
(Ephesians 2:8β9; Titus 3:5; Romans 8:30; Philippians 1:6)
Baptism (Water Baptism)
We believe water baptism is an ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ.
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation and a public declaration of faith in Christ.
Baptism symbolizes union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Baptism does not save but is an act of obedience.
(Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3β4; Acts 2:38; Colossians 2:12)
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the work of God by which believers are united with Christ and empowered for Christian living and witness.
The Holy Spirit indwells every believer at salvation.
Believers are called to live continually filled and led by the Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 12:13; Romans 8:9; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:18)
The Church
We believe the Church is the body and bride of Christ, made up of all believers.
The Church exists both universally and locally to glorify God, make disciples, and serve the world.
Christ established two ordinances: Baptism and the Lordβs Supper, as visible expressions of the gospel.
(Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:42; Matthew 28:19β20; 1 Corinthians 11:23β26)
The Christian Life
We believe every believer is called to live a life of obedience, holiness, love, generosity, and witness.
Christians are called to belong to and serve within a local church community.
(Romans 12:1β2; Micah 6:8; Hebrews 10:24β25)
Marriage and Family
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant instituted by God between one man and one woman.
This church affirms no other definition of marriage.
All leadership, practices, and facilities of this church operate in accordance with this biblical definition.
(Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4β6; Ephesians 5:31β32)
The Return of Christ and Eternity
We believe Jesus Christ will physically return to judge the living and the dead.
Those who belong to Christ will live eternally with Him.
Those who reject Christ will experience eternal separation from God.
(John 14:1β3; Matthew 25:31β46; Revelation 21:1β4)
